In my getting started campaign, you will always face your enemies 2 to 1.In the early game, for saxons, always choose quantity over quality.If you can, hold off recruiting cav until this point. This will allow you to recruit Cav with 3 bronze shevrons for the same cost. Especially, there will be a time when a guy offers you some horses. Always pay attention to them because they give really good bonuses in the game. You should always immediately handle any political events (the game will present them time to time). They will come in handy later as generals. Keeping things PG 13, Cenerid's wife will keep producing illegitimate children. He's got some negative aspects and will not be a good general. Much later, when he's like 22-23 years old, turn him into a General.Īlso, turn Cenerid into the governor of Britannia Inferior. Also, get him married as soon as the option is available. He'll gain influence way faster that way and so, will help you retain dominion. Rather make him a governor in Britannia Superior (when conquered).

You should not turn Esla into a General early on. In the first 10-15 turns, it would make more sense to try and adopt 1 General (with high influence, preferably married) using Gewis.

Your daughter is married to a statesman Cenerid. So, you start with your General Gewis and son Esla (still not of age). It's almost the same amount of fun and excitement without the added headache. But there is no shame in playing normal either. But do some compromises and at mid game, you can basically steamroll everything. You are not going to jump-start an empire regardless of your play style. One very important thing to remember while playing as the Saxons is the fact that It is about survival. The Saxons are actually a pretty decent faction for the campaign. These are crucial, and I urge you to bear with me.
